Covid-19 Response & Guidelines
Covid-19 response update 3/31/2020
COVID response monitors are expected to inform and train all employees of this new protocol. Please implement the following protocol on all jobsites. These are intended as supplemental or in some cases supersede previous information provided.
- –New safety glasses have been issued to all employees — these should be worn to the greatest extent possible to prevent touching of the face.
- –Bandanas will be issued as soon as they arrive. Employees will be required to wear them to the greatest extent possible while working. Bandanas will not filter COVID-19 however our hope is that they will help slow the spread by reducing airborne particles while talking and serve as a reminder against touching a person's face or getting closer than 6 feet.
- –All jobsites should have a COVID response monitor. For the time being that person will be the project foreman. Their job is to monitor all social distancing orders and treat these new guidelines as part of our general safety program. Related PPE will be a requirement for receiving safety bonuses.
- –The COVID response monitors are as follows: Nishioka – Robert Manzo | The Grove – Justin Riley | The Boulevard – Clint Kendall | Valley Roofing – Justin Riley | Capital Manor – Chris Rowell
- –For employees wishing to return to work they must meet all back-to-work criteria presented previously and complete a return-to-work interview and provide documentation of a clean bill of health. For interview please call Sarah Stanton 503-798-5262.
- –All employees are to stay on their assigned jobsites through completion. Jobsites with loss of employees due to illness will have to do without replacements for the time being. This is to prevent cross contamination and unnecessary interaction.
- –Random audits will be performed to ensure compliance and help guide our decisions moving forward.
Trevor Stanton, Secretary, The Muirlands Corporation
The Muirlands Corporation is officially adopting the following guidelines and protocols recommended by The Center for Disease Control (CDC) for all of its employees and jobsites. Please note that all Muirlands employees will be expected to follow these guidelines.
COVID-19 Job Site Practices
Worker Personal Responsibilities
Employees need to take steps to protect themselves. If employees have symptoms of acute respiratory illness (fever, cough, shortness of breath), they must stay home and not come to work until free of symptoms for at least 72 hours without the use of medicine. Employees must notify their supervisors and stay home if they are sick.
Social Distancing
Work in occupied areas should be limited to only those tasks that are strictly necessary. Limit physical contact with others. Direct employees to increase personal space to at least 6 feet where possible. When possible, limit out-of-office meetings and replace them with phone or online meetings. Take breaks and lunch in shifts to reduce the size of the group in the lunch area at any one time to less than 10 people.
General Job Site Practices
Employers should reference the CDC's Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers. Consider designating a representative to monitor for signs of illness in the workplace. If an employee is confirmed to have COVID-19, inform fellow employees of possible exposure while maintaining confidentiality as required by the ADA. Attendance at safety meetings should be communicated verbally — do not pass around a sign-in sheet or mobile device.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Gloves should be worn at all times while on site. Eye protection should be worn at all times while on site. Contractors should continue to provide and direct employees to wear face masks if required by the work.
Sanitation and Cleanliness
Promote frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds. Employers should also provide hand sanitizer when hand washing facilities are not available. All workers should wash hands often, especially before eating, smoking, or drinking, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Workers should refrain from touching their face.
